Becoming a client is simple
Whether it's one tax return or an entire business, getting started is the same: set up a secure account, tell us what you need, and we'll follow up personally.
How it works
- 1
Create your secure account
Sign up through our portal with your contact details and a few words about what you need. It takes a few minutes, and everything is encrypted.
Create your secure account - 2
We review it and reach out
We read every request personally. For a tax return, most people only need the basics listed below. If your situation calls for more, we'll tell you exactly what. For business services, planning, or an IRS matter, we'll start with a consultation so we understand the full picture.

We get to work together
Send your documents however suits you, and we'll keep you posted until everything is ready to review and sign. After that, we're here all year.
Prefer to talk first?
Book an introductory call and tell us a little about what you're looking for. We'll talk through how we can help, and whether we're the right fit, before you set up an account.

Your return, your way
Three ways to work with us
Some clients like a face-to-face meeting every spring, and others haven't been in the office in years.
Meet in the office
Sit down with us in the office and go through everything together. It's a good choice for your first year with us, or any year with big changes.
Drop off your documents
Leave your paperwork with us and go about your day. We'll call when your return is ready, or sooner if a question comes up.
Do it all online
Upload documents, answer questions, sign, and pay through the secure portal. The phone app even scans paper forms for you.
What to have ready
You don't need everything on day one. We'll follow up with what we need from you, and these are the basics almost everyone needs.
For your personal return
- Photo ID for you and your spouse
- Social Security numbers and birth dates for dependents
- Your last two years of tax returns
- W-2s, 1099s, and any other income statements
- Records for rental property or self-employment
- Mortgage interest, property tax, and charitable giving records
For a business consultation
- Your last two years of business tax returns
- Recent financial statements, or access to your books
- Payroll reports, if you have employees
- Formation documents and your EIN letter
- A list of the questions keeping you up at night
Questions new clients ask
See all frequently asked questionsWhat are my options for getting my return prepared?
There are three. Pick the one that fits how you like to work.
- In the office
- Sit down with us, go through your documents together, and ask anything you like.
- Drop-off
- Leave your documents with us. We'll prepare the return and call you when it's ready, or sooner if we have a question.
- Entirely online
- Upload everything through the secure portal, then review, sign, and pay electronically from home.
How much will my return cost?
Fees depend on which forms your return needs and how involved it is, so we don't publish a one-size price list. We're always happy to talk through what to expect before we begin any work.
Do I need to live in Winston-Salem to work with you?
Not at all. Most of our clients live in and around Winston-Salem, but we also work with people across North Carolina and beyond. With the secure portal and electronic signatures, you never have to come into the office unless you'd like to.
Can I email my tax documents to you?
Please don't. Ordinary email isn't secure enough for Social Security numbers, bank details, and income records. Upload them through the secure client portal instead. It's encrypted from end to end, and the phone app can scan paper documents for you.
